Love for OLiving

All I can say is WOW! A German company called OLiving www.o-living.de .  An amazing showroom filled with great contemporary design with a nod to a bit of history at times......familiarity with a cool twist.  Inspires me to think...'How can these be used in design'?.....Ok artists/desingers/dreamers...how are you inspired?

Back on US Soil...Hitting the Ground Running

2012 has come and gone....but who wouldn't be inspired and motivated after 9 amazing months abroad?
Next stop: 2013! We are HERE! As I am busy traveling at the moment, I will eventual be landing myself in NYC/Philadelphia.
Today I am feeling the full benefits of being in Germany.   Bloom's World has just come out! I am very fotunate to have made the cover of their newest issue.  For those in the floral design world, this magazine is what first totally inspired me to follow my passion.  If you have not checked it out, please do! www.blooms-world.com to see more exciting pages of the new floral designer's collection.

The issue includes some great creative stuff for folks in the industry. Feeling inspired? Feeling the love? The cover shot was part of a colletion of designs using Sambucas nigra 'elderberry'. It was kind of like Heidi Klum coming along and saying 'for your next challenge, you will be working with wood, create some inspiring designs using the unique features...'....the material was so much fun to work with....

Design Showroom

I recently had the priviledge of helping design the Klocke Design Showroom Summer seasonal display in Minden Germany. Klocke has a warehouse/showroom for the floral industry.  No real flowers here, but was fun creating in the moment with many materials at hand!

Scrap Makes it to Brunch....

Took a bit of scrap steel that my buddy and I created which added some interest to Sunday brunch....

A Leaf's Moment as Metal

Continuing the thread of incorporation of metals with floral design, I was recently asked to 'mimic' Chlorophytum comosum which we commonly know as spider plant. A spider plant and Dendrobium orchid island adornes the black pond of the Tropical Terrance here at Longwood.  I acquired a few scrap pieces of aluminum, cut into long slender shapes, and gave them a brushed look that is both clean and modern.  A great way to brighten up the space with something delicious and unusual without distraction....below are some images from start to finish.

Longwood Splendour

Happy New Year! A little late posting.  Included in this post are images of from Longwood's Professional Gardener grad dinner as well as an Xmas display for a tree in the Longwood's Cascade Garden.  Amongst the moving boxes, visits from family, and loosening up tight ends, I managed to teach one final last time. Amazing to take the ideas from the brain and paper, and allow my class to execute the designs with their own creative twists!   The results were fabulous and funky!.....enjoy the glitter, seed heads, spanish moss, cranberries, cymbidium orchids, echeveria, and amaryllis!
